Shikakai powder and its uses

Shikakai is a natural powder made from leaves & fruits of acacia concinna tree.  Acacia concinna is being used as a medicine for skin and hair care in Asia since ancient time. It is also used for making hair conditioner, shampoo and other hair care products. Shikakai powder is available in market from several different producers with different kind of packaging.

Aritha and Shikakai powder uses

For best result, add at least 1 tea spoon Shikakai powder to ¼ gm of your Aritha powder. Mix desired quantity of powder with warm hot water and let it cool. Apply shikakai paste or mixed herbal paste to areas starting from the back and moving forward. Wrap your hair and allow sitting for 1-6 hours. Wash your paste, dry and you will have shiny hair with natural color.

Amla, Reetha and Shikakai – Homemade Chemical Free Shampoo

First, take equal quantities of amla powder, reetha and shikakai powder in a mug, add 2 liters of water to it, mix the items well and leave it for at least 24 hours. Next day, boil the mixture till water reduces to half and wait for it to cool. Now, it is ready to be used as a shampoo or hair conditioner to strengthen your hair and make those shiny and silky. You can also use it as a remedy to stop hair fall.

If you want reduce hair fall and dandruff then mix ½ tea spoon of shikakai powder in sufficient hot coconut oil and make a thin paste. Apply to your hair and massage gently for few minutes and wash it after an hour.

Remedy for dandruff control, thick and black hair

First, you take 1 tea spoon fenugreek seed powder mixed with 1 cup of yogurt. Apply on your hair and leave to dry (at least ½ an hour) before washing. Take 2 tea spoon of beetroot juice and 1 egg and 1 tea spoon lime juice and apply on your hair and leave for half an hour before washing. Oil your hair well before going to bed. Next day early morning, mix 1 spoon lime juice with ½ spoon salt. Rub this on the scalp with the peel of a lime turned inside out and leave for 1 hour before shampooing.
